1. Understanding Macronutrients:Building Blocks of Health

Cathi and Vanessa will talk about proteins, fats, and carbohydrates—and their essential role in the body. They will dispel common myths, such as the demonization of carbohydrates, by explaining the difference between simple and complex carbs and how both can fit into a balanced diet.

2. Mindful Eating: A HealthierRelationship with Food

The experts will talk about mindful eating. In today's fast-paced world, we often eat while distracted, which can lead to overeating and digestive issues. During this session, participants engaged in a short mindful eating exercise, focusing on their senses—taste, smell, and texture—whiles savoring each bite of a fresh, locally sourced food.

3. Eating for Energy: OptimizingYour Diet for Daily Vitality

Another crucial topic is eating for energy. Attendees will learn how to design meals that stabilize blood sugar levels and prevent energy crashes throughout the day. The speakers will emphasize the importance of whole foods like leafy greens, lean proteins, and healthy fats in keeping energy levels consistent, while avoiding the spike-and-crash effects of sugary snacks and caffeine overload.

4. Sustainable and Budget-Friendly Eating & How to Read Labels

In an age of rising food costs, eating healthfully can seem out of reach for some. Cathi and Vanessa  will offer practical tips on how to eat sustainably and on a budget. From meal planning and batch cooking to shopping seasonally and using every part of the produce, attendees will walk away with ideas to make wholesome meals without breaking the bank.  The experts will help you understand how to best read labels.

“Food to Flourish” is not just a lecture, it will be an engaging conversation and  a community-building event, reinforcing the idea that wellness begins at home but is strengthened through shared knowledge and support.
